Custom Switchbox and Wiring for Two-Light Pendant

An artist asked me to create a custom switchbox and wire it in-line for his series of pendant lights.

Testing the assembly

Requirements

  • Standard hardware – nothing custom

  • Minimize cost for 20 units; get bulk pricing from cheapest vendor per component

  • Switch should be for a guitar foot pedal; he liked the “click”

  • Minimize size of aluminum enclosure for switchbox

  • Wire sockets in parallel

  • Protect cord from any sharp edges

  • Part finishes should be white or satin nickel whenever possible; unfinished brass is acceptable
